Achan Urangatha Veedu

A film along the similar emotional lines of Akashadoothu, shows Salim Kumar the comedian in a different light. He is the father of three daughters that society takes sleep away from. His youngest daughter runs away from home and lands up in a prostitution den and then the Indian judicial system comes to the "rescue". Brilliant performances from Salim, Prithviraaj, Murali and the three daughters (Samvritha, Mukta and Suja).

I strongly believe that such a film can only come from the state of Kerala. Only the Mallus will willingly go watch a film that was made with the express purpose of making one lose hope and to force a tear or two from your soul. But kudos to Lal Jose for having the courage to tackle this realistic fact based story. It shines a spotlight on the pot holes in Indian society. Pot holes that all those who live in India see on a daily basis and pray they don't fall into.

Interesting. You are right - only mallus would willingly pay to see reality i.e non 'larger than life' shit that Bollywood churns out. some might say, willingly pay to get depressed. Will check it out if I manage to get my hands on it.
