The scene is rural Sri Lanka, caught unawares in the thrall between war and peace. A young couple try to eke out their living in this bleak landscape with their young child and her spinster aunt. Vimukthi Jayasundara's film captures their hollow existence so well that it leaves you feeling empty too.
