Green Lantern

Earthling Hal Jordan is chosen to wear one of the Green Lantern rings and become part of the Green Lantern corps. Soon Earth is threatened and blah blah blah. DC in its vain attempt to keep up with Marvel film launches, brings yet another of its characters to the big screen. Picking Ryan Reynolds to play Green Lantern, undid the movie even before shooting began.

Adventureland

James Brennan's (Jesse Eisenberg) dream of a summer in Europe evaporates when his father's job is downsized. Faced with negative skills and a need for money, he is forced to work at the local amusement park. Soon he is treated to life lessons at the park that mainly focus on falling in love and discovering that women always fall for the wrong men.

The Proposal

Meet Margaret Tate (Sandra Bullock) aka the Devil's Mistress, a cut throat bitchy editor-in-chief of publishing company in downtown Manhattan. Then there is Andrew (Ryan Reynolds), her over worked assistant who is at her beck and demeaning call. The tables turn when Margaret is forced to blackmail Andrew into marrying her as lapsed immigration paper work would otherwise force her to leave the US (I though this happened only to Desis and Mexicans). Soon you venture down the well trodden path of awkward couple meeting the parents...

The Nines

Another one of those intertwining story-lines. An actor under house arrest, a reality show and reality itself are the lines in play here. The twist is that Ryan Reynolds, Melissa McCarthy, and Hope Davis play the main characters in all the parts. Thankfully Mr. Reynolds does not attempt to be funny. So the film is interesting in bits and boring in pieces. Reminded me of a milder version of Mulholland Dr.
