Green Lantern

Earthling Hal Jordan is chosen to wear one of the Green Lantern rings and become part of the Green Lantern corps. Soon Earth is threatened and blah blah blah. DC in its vain attempt to keep up with Marvel film launches, brings yet another of its characters to the big screen. Picking Ryan Reynolds to play Green Lantern, undid the movie even before shooting began.

Noise

Disturbed by the car alarms that go off in the middle of the night, David Owen (Tim Robbins) takes on the rogue alarms & its owners putting his life (wife & job) at risk. An interesting premise at the outset, but it runs out of fuel 3/4ths into the film.

The Shawshank Redemption

Andy Dufresne (Tim Robbins)  finds himself serving two life sentences for a crime of passion at the Shawshank prison. With nothing left but all the time in the world to think about it, Andy finds himself bonding with a fellow jail-mate, Red (Morgan Freeman), as he meanders his way around prison life. Corny as it sounds it is movie a movie about hope with just the right amount of melodrama. And with Mr. Freeman playing the narrator you will be left haunted forever by some of the dialog. 

The film which is based on a short story by Stephen King, is like fine wine. It seems to age very well and just keeps getting better with time.
