Nowhere Boy

Aaron-Taylor Johnson does a reasonable job as young John Lennon in this film, which has very little about The Beatles. Yes, there is a Paul here and a George there - but it is pretty much about a young boy who is torn between his foster mother Aunt Mimi and his real mum Julia, who had abandoned him early on. And with no father figure in sight. It kind of adds up when you know how he treated women in his young adult life and possibly explains the Yoko Ono adventure. Nowhere Boy ends up being an accomplished ~90 min backstory of a mega star. Worth a watch only if you are interested in John Lennon.

Tell No One

Dr. Alexandre Beck (François Cluzet) lost the love of his life to a gruesome murder. 8 years later, still greiving for her, he receives an anonymous email showing a video of her during recent times. The email is akin to a personal Pandora's Box for the doctor as he finds himself assailed on all sides and soon is on the run for murder. On his trail is a George Smiley like detective, who really should have been given more screen time. A slightly improbable but immensely watchable thriller.

The Valet

Businessman Pierre (Daniel Auteuil) finds himself in deep shit when he is caught on candid cam with his supermodel mistress Elena (Alice Taglioni). When confronted by his ice maiden wife (Kristin Scott Thomas), who also happens to have a majority stake hold in his business, he blurts that the girl is really with a passer by who happens to be in the picture too. Poor Francois (Gad Elmaleh) who has just been rejected by his girl friend now finds himself magically sleeping next to a supermodel in return for money. A spicy comedy that only the French could come up with and execute with nonchalance.

Keeping Mum

Rather simple funny movie. A sly maid in the house of a distracted priest and his philandering wife rearranges the family setup. Amusing and keeps one entertained. Good to see Kristin Scott Thomas after a long time.
